CoinLedger is crypto tax software with a published prediction markets tax guide, last updated June 23, 2026, that documents how it handles Polymarket and Kalshi. For Polymarket it connects to your wallet address, imports the transaction history and calculates USDC gains and losses alongside the prediction market income itself.

The pricing model is the reason to consider it over a subscription product: portfolio tracking is free without limit, and a tax report is a one-time purchase per tax year.

What it does

The guide's central point about Polymarket is that every entry and exit is also a disposal of a crypto asset (USDC), and that disposal is a taxable event in its own right. CoinLedger imports the wallet's Polymarket history and reconstructs the USDC cost basis that the venue does not provide.

For Kalshi there is no wallet to read. The guide tells you to use the account export in your Kalshi settings, at least once per quarter, so the records stay accurate. That is a manual export rather than an API connection.

  • Three characterizations discussed: gambling income, capital gains, Section 1256
  • Free preview tax report before purchase
  • Users above 3,000 transactions buy additional transactions inside the product

Pricing

Portfolio tracking is $0 with unlimited transactions. Tax report downloads are Hobbyist at $49 for up to 100 transactions, Investor at $99 for up to 1,000, and Pro at $199 and up for 3,000 and above. Paid plans are one-time per tax year with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Venues and data

Polymarket via the on-chain wallet. Kalshi via quarterly account exports. The guide does not describe Robinhood, ForecastEx or other regulated venues.

Where it falls short

The guide does not say whether Polymarket-specific events (split, merge, redemption of a losing position) are labeled automatically or need a manual category, and it does not mention NegRisk markets. Check a sample wallet in the free preview before buying a report.

Kalshi import is a CSV workflow you run four times a year. If you forget, the record is incomplete.

Transaction counts add up fast on Polymarket; a busy trader lands in the Pro band.

Who should use it

A Polymarket trader with other crypto activity who wants one-time pricing and a free preview, and who will verify how the tool labeled their redemptions before filing.
