Awaken Tax: what it does, what it costs, where it stops
Last checked 2026-09-08
Awaken Tax is crypto tax software that imports wallet and exchange history, applies cost basis, and produces tax reports. Its integrations page lists Polymarket and Kalshi by name, with a dedicated Polymarket integration page and a Kalshi tax article behind each entry.
You pay only when you download reports; importing and previewing gains is free. That makes it cheap to test whether it reads your Polymarket wallet correctly before committing.
What it does
Awaken's Polymarket article states that it supports Polymarket natively, categorizing buys, sells and redemptions so gains and losses land on Form 8949, and that adding your Polymarket wallet address imports the on-chain history (buys, sells, redemptions, splits, merges and rewards) and matches proceeds to cost basis. It also states that bridged USDC is connected so cost basis carries through rather than showing as a phantom deposit.
Beyond prediction markets, it connects Coinbase, Kraken, Binance and Gemini, MetaMask, Phantom, Ledger and Coinbase Wallet, and the Ethereum, Solana, Base, Polygon, Optimism, Hyperliquid and Sui chains, with handling for swaps, staking, bridging, liquidity pools and yield farming.
- Integrations page entries: Polymarket (awaken.tax/integrations/polymarket-taxes) and Kalshi (awaken.tax/media/article/kalshi-taxes)
- Tax-loss harvesting, TurboTax export on paid tiers, tax lots and planning on the Whale tier
Pricing
Minnow is free to 100 transactions with portfolio tracking and a capital gains preview. Fish is $99 per year to 300 transactions and includes TurboTax and tax reports. Dolphin runs $199 to $399 per year for 1,000 to 5,000 transactions. Whale runs $599 to $999 per year for 10,000 to 50,000 transactions with tax lots, planning and priority support. Full-service bookkeeping starts at $3,000 per year.
Venues and data
Polymarket is read on-chain from the Polygon wallet, which is why it can see redemptions and merges. Kalshi is a regulated exchange with no on-chain trail; the Kalshi entry links to an article rather than an integration page, and we could not fetch that article to confirm the import method.
Where it falls short
An active Polymarket trader burns through transaction tiers quickly: every fill, split and merge counts, so a 5,000-transaction year lands in the $399 band.
The Polymarket and Kalshi content pages sit behind a Cloudflare challenge that blocked our fetch. Confirm the Kalshi import path on the site before buying a tier for it.
It is US-focused crypto tax software. Prediction market tax characterization (capital gain, Section 1256, gambling) is a filing decision it does not make for you.
Who should use it
A US trader with on-chain Polymarket activity plus other crypto who wants one tool to classify all of it, and who will test the free preview before paying.
