Polymarket leaderboard: what it ranks, how to query it, where it stops

The Polymarket leaderboard is the venue's own ranking of traders by profit and by volume. It is free, needs no login, and the same numbers are available from a public Data API endpoint.

It answers one question well: who is up, and by how much. It does not answer win rate, return on capital or what a trader currently holds, which is why the third-party trackers on this site exist.

What it shows

Four timeframes: Today, Weekly, Monthly and All-time. Two columns per trader: Profit/Loss and Volume. A category filter narrows the list from All Categories to a single vertical.

Each row links to the trader's public profile. A separate Biggest wins this month panel lists single trades with the event name, the profit and the initial position value.

  • Example row from the monthly profit board on 2026-09-08: +$1,123,317 profit on $6,493,293 volume
  • The page notes that trading is blocked in the United States on polymarket.com and points US users to polymarket.us

The API behind it

GET https://data-api.polymarket.com/v1/leaderboard returns the board as JSON. Parameters: category (OVERALL by default, or POLITICS, SPORTS, ESPORTS, CRYPTO, CULTURE, MENTIONS, WEATHER, ECONOMICS, TECH, FINANCE), timePeriod (DAY by default, or WEEK, MONTH, ALL), orderBy (PNL or VOL), limit (1 to 50, default 25) and offset (0 to 1,000). You can also look up one trader by user address or userName.

Each entry carries rank, proxyWallet, userName, vol, pnl, profileImage, xUsername and verifiedBadge. Fifty rows per call and an offset ceiling of 1,000 means the deepest you can page is about 1,050 traders per board.

Venues and data

Polymarket only, by definition. The pnl figure is the venue's own computation; the docs do not publish the formula, so treat it as realized plus marked positions rather than a verified cash number.

Where it falls short

Profit and volume are the only metrics. There is no win rate, no ROI, no trade count and no position list on the board itself, so a trader who won one large long-shot looks identical to one who grinds a repeatable edge.

The category list is fixed and there is no minimum-trades filter. Pagination stops around rank 1,050.

It is a ranking, not a screen. Deciding whether a wallet is worth following means opening the profile and reading the positions yourself, or using one of the trackers below.

Who should use it

Every Polymarket trader, as the starting list. Builders should call the Data API directly rather than scrape the page.

Pair it with a P&L-and-win-rate tracker before copying anyone off it.
