Adjacent News: what it does, what it costs, where it stops
Last checked 2026-09-08
Adjacent describes itself as an indexing and benchmarking company for prediction markets and event contracts. The adj.news domain now redirects to adjacent.markets. It publishes analysis articles and weekly outlooks, builds indices from market prices, stores news linked to specific markets, and exposes all of it through a public API and an MCP server.
For a trader the value is the wiring: an article is attached to the markets and indices it concerns, and the same objects are queryable by code. The data behind it comes from Kalshi and Polymarket.
What it does
The catalog lists 54 indices. Political indices (Presidential, Senate and House, on Republican and Democratic tracks) use a 50 to 150 scale where 100 is neutral and value minus 50 equals the implied win probability in percent, so a reading of 109 is about 59%. NFL Team Indices launched on September 4, 2026.
The docs list six data products: market data (prices, trades, quotes, candles), indices, reference rates (unified series across venues or rolling contracts), news articles linked to markets and indices, CFTC filings with status tracking, and an MCP server.
- Public API: https://api.adjacent.markets/api/v1/public, no auth, CORS-open, 15-minute delay
- MCP server: https://mcp.adjacent.markets/mcp, delayed by default, real-time with an apiKey parameter
- Docs: https://docs.adjacent.markets/ with a machine-readable API catalog
- Latest article at time of checking: The Houthis Are Escalating, September 8, 2026
Pricing
The public tier is free and delayed 15 minutes. The realtime tier uses Bearer tokens created in app settings with scopes your account can grant. The pricing page is a client-rendered route that returned no plan text to our fetch, so realtime prices and quotas are not recorded here.
Venues and data
The API docs name Kalshi and Polymarket as the venues aggregated. Neither the home page nor the docs we fetched state a total market count.
Where it falls short
It is not an alert service. There is no price trigger, whale feed or push channel; you poll the API or read the articles.
Fifteen minutes of delay on the free tier rules it out for anything intraday. The index scale is Adjacent's own construction, so an index level is not a price you can trade.
Who should use it
A researcher or a trader building a pipeline who wants news, filings and prices in one schema, and can live with delayed data or is willing to buy the realtime key.
Questions about Adjacent News
Is the Adjacent News API free?
The public tier is free with no authentication and a 15-minute delay. Real-time access requires an API key and its price is not shown on the pages we could fetch.
Does Adjacent cover Kalshi and Polymarket?
Yes. The API documentation names Kalshi and Polymarket as the venues whose data it aggregates.
What happened to adj.news?
It redirects to adjacent.markets with a 301. Same product, new domain.
Does Adjacent send price alerts?
No. It publishes articles, indices and an API. Alerts are not part of the product.
Trackers find the edge. Calculators size it. Alerts time it.
